{"id":1605,"date":"2019-09-30T19:41:50","date_gmt":"2019-09-30T23:41:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/franklinhaas.com\/wordpress\/saturday-september-28-2019\/"},"modified":"2023-08-24T12:07:03","modified_gmt":"2023-08-24T16:07:03","slug":"saturday-september-28-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/franklinhaas.com\/wordpress\/saturday-september-28-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"Saturday, September 28, 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Temp in the 40s, partly sunny, Wind SW 5-15 mph<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our final day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We added Yellow-billed Loon to the Trip List.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At least three Short-tailed Shearwaters were still hanging out in Kuluk Bay near the Palisades Overlook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/franklinhaas.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/ShortTailedShearwater_09282019.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2306\"\/><figcaption>Short-tailed Shearwaters, Kuluk Bay, September 28, 2019<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I did not walk out on Clam Lagoon and we did not see the Marsh Sandpiper from shore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was a good trip, but not great.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We added one new bird to our Adak list \u2013 Greater Yellowlegs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We had five Asian strays \u2013 Red-necked Stint, Marsh Sandpiper, Sharp-tailed Sandpiper, Brambling, and Gray-tailed Tattler.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Short-tailed Shearwaters hanging out in Kuluk Bay for most of the trip was fun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although the Marsh Sandpiper was not new for us, it was only our second and I got great photos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Marine invasion that we were so concerned about never happened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our trip home was uneventful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Final Trip List was 56 (Average = 54).
